22 police officers transferred over Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan government has transferred 22 police officers with immediate effect in connection with lapses involved with Easter Sunday attacks.
''
'' National Police Commission carried out the transfers including for two senior DIGs and four DIGs on the recommendation of Attorney General (AG) office.
''
'' The AG had earlier instructed the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to carry out criminal investigations against former defence secretary and IGP for failing to act on intelligence inputs.
''
'' Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has stated that those lapses cost them the trust of the people and they also lost the trust on security.
''
'' He stated that the parliamentary select committee and the commissions established by the President have brought out the question as to why they failed to act despite having information.
''
'' However, the Prime Minister noted that everyone from the terrorist group is either arrested or under detention and that no one is at large. He stated that authorities have also arrested a number of other similar groups and truly ensured security.
''
''Mr. Wickremsinghe asserted that even the officers who came from abroad to assist with the investigations expressed amazement over how they managed to nab the suspects from such a short time.
