21 people test positive for coronavirus on cruise ship

In the United States, authorities were battling to contain an outbreak on the Grand Princess cruise ship where 21 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus. The ship is being held off the coast of California. <br />''<br />''Officials said, there are 21 confirmed Coronavirus cases on board and 19 of them are crew members. Authorities want it to go to a non-commercial port for everyone aboard to be tested. Vice President Mike Pence said those that will need to be quarantined will be quarantined and medical help would be extended to the needy.<br />'' <br />'' President Donald Trump, speaking at the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, said he would have preferred not to let the passengers disembark onto American soil but would defer to the recommendations of medical experts. Meanwhile, in Egypt, a cruise ship on the Nile with more than 150 passengers and crew was under quarantine in the southern city of Luxor after 12 people tested positive for the virus. A health official said, 12 people who tested positive were isolated inside the ship while the rest await results. The incident raised Egypt's total number of cases to 15.<br />'' <br />'' In Malaysia, the port of Penang today turned away the cruise ship Costa Fortuna with 2,000 passengers and crew because there were 64 people aboard from Italy, the center of Europe's epidemic. It was the second port to reject the ship after Phuket in Thailand yesterday. The Costa Fortuna was making its way to Singapore.<br />''
