Over 21 lakh LED street lights have been installed across India under Street Light National Programme across the country. Ministry of Power said in a statement that the newly installed lights have led to brighter streets, feeling of enhanced safety and security among the residents and motorists. <br/><br/>Over seven lakh four thousand LED streetlights have been installed in Rajasthan and more than 5 lakh 86 thousand in Andhra Pradesh. The procurement price of the LED street lights has been reduced from 135 rupees per watt to 80 rupees watt due to mass procurement of the lights. <br/>
