A total of 21 children including 13 boys and 8 girls have been selected for the National bravery Awards for the year 2009.The awards will be given for their outstanding deeds of bravery and meritorious services of courage. Out of 21 children,two children have been given posthumously.<br/><br/>Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, the President of Indian Council for Child Welfare, Mrs Geeta Siddhartha said that the coveted Bharat Award carrying a cash prize of 15,000 rupees will be given to 13 year old Gaurav Singh Saini of Haryana for saving the lives of more than 50 people in a stampede at the Naina Devi temple.<br/><br/>11 year old Karan Nishad of Uttar Pradesh, who saved 5 people from drowning, has been selected for Sanjay Chopra Award while 10 year old Kumari Priti Devi of Manipur has been selected for Geeeta Chopra Award for saving several lives when miscreants hurled a grenade inside the shop. Other children have been chosen for Bapu Gaidhani Awards.
