Afghan police backed by NATO-led troops have killed 21 armed militants and captured 27 others during operations throughout the country over the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Interior Ministry today said during the operation, the national police backed the army and the NATO-led coalition forces have killed 21 armed militants, wounded nine and captured 27 others.

It said a number of arms and ammunitions including 277 kilogrammes of explosive materials and a rocket-propelled grenade have also been seized .
