Jammu and Kashmir witnessed lowest violence in over decades of militancy in 2011. In a significant decline, about 190 incidents of terrorist violence were reported this year, the lowest in the last 22 years of militancy in the state. It has dropped by 47 percent with 368 cases reported last year, 74 percent lower in Jammu and 33 percent in Kashmir. Giving this information, State Director General of Police Kuldeep Khuda said, 159 people, including 99 terrorists, were killed this year as compared to 323 last year in the state during the same period showing a dip in killings by over 55 percent. He said there has been discernible improvement in the situation because of the combined efforts. He said the militancy related incidents continue to show a dwindling graph with improvement in the overall situation.
