Altogether 201 defence personnel laid down their lives due to insurgency, terrorism and firing from across the border from 2012 till date. The next of kin of 180 persons have been fully paid the compensation amounts due to them so far. <br/><br/>Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar stated this in the Lok Sabha today. In a written reply to another question, he said the Defence Ministry has minimized systemic deficiencies to ensure timely and unhindered procurement of weapons and equipment for the forces.
