In Gujarat, the state intelligence bureau records on 2002 communal riots were destroyed in 2007. State Government's counsel Mr. SB Vakil has revealed this on the sidelines of the proceedings at the Nanavati-Mehta inquiry commission. Talking to media persons, Mr. Vakil alleged that IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt filed his affidavit in Supreme Court only after he came to know that the records of 2002 riots were destroyed. The records include IB control room phone records and logbooks of official vehicles.
