20 pilgrims dead in Punjab road accident

The death toll in a major road accident in Punjab late last night has risen to 20. All the victims were pilgrims and coming back from a Shrine when the mini truck they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Hoshiarpur district. The truck was carrying over 50 people. About 30 have been admitted to various hospitals. All of them belong to village Bholath in Kapurthala district.
Punjab Health Minister, Surjit Kumar Jiyani visited Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital to take stock of the situation. Rescue efforts by the district and police administration are on.
