In Uttar Pradesh, at least 20 people were killed and several injured in a major road accident in Gorakhpur district Sunday afternoon.

District police chief told AIR Lucknow correspondent that the accident took place when two buses coming from opposite direction collided head on in Chiluatal area of the district.

He said injured have been rushed to BRD medical college hospital for treatment. The District police chief said, the death toll may increase as the condition of some of the injured is stated to be serious.

He said that the ill fated UP State Roadways Transport Corporation bus was going to Sonauli. The other vehicle which was a private bus was going to Gorakhpur.
