In Iraq, twenty people were wounded this morning when three car bombs exploded outside the homes of officials of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk. Iraqi National news agency, quoting a senior police official has reported that three booby-trapped cars exploded simultaneously outside the homes of three officials of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in north Kirkuk. The PUK is led by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani. The oil rich multi-ethnic city of Kirkuk is situated 240 kilometres north of Baghdad, which is at the centre of a dispute between Arabs, Turkmen and Kurds. In a separate incident, two people were injured in two mortar attacks, targeting Baghdad's Abu Nawas neighbourhood and the fortified Green Zone.
