2 UP irrigation projects included in national plan

The Centre has announced over Rs. 3,000-crore package for two irrigation projects in Uttar Pradesh. It includes the Sarayu Nahar Pariyojana and Restoring the capacity of Sharda Sahayak Project in the state. An official release issued in New Delhi said that under the scheme of National Projects, over Rs. 2,900 crore has been granted for the Sarayu Nahar Pariyojana.The project is scheduled to be completed by March, 2016. The project will enhance the irrigation potential benefitting over 14 lakh hectares in the different districts of state. On the other hand, the Sharda Sahayak Project has been provided over Rs. 200 crore for its better maintenance.The High-Powered Steering Committee for National Projects constituted by the Ministry of Water Resources has cleared both these Projects.
