In Syria, at least two protesters were shot dead on Friday despite an order by President Bashar al-Assad to security forces not to open fire on demonstrators, rights activists said. Meanwhile, Britain summoned the Syrian ambassador to Foreign Office and warned of fresh sanctions if Syria failed to stop the crackdown on protesters. Foreign Office Political Director Geoffrey Adams said that unless Syrian Government stops killing of protesters and released political prisoners , Britain and other European nations would take further measures to hold the regime to account. He said measures could include asset freezing and travel bans.
