In Kerala, two opposition MLAs have been suspended from the assembly for two days for violating norms and procedures of the house. Based on a motion by the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Speaker G Karthikeyan has suspended T V Rajesh and James Mathew, both first time MLAs, for shouting at the chair and using unparliamentary language while the speaker was making an observation about these members' behaviour in the house on Friday. Earlier, after prolonged discussion by leaders of political parties a consensus was reached that the two MLAs may be spared from punishment for unruly scenes and alleged attack on a woman watch and ward staff on Friday. The opposition alongwith the suspended members have decided to sit in dharna in the well of the house till the suspension is revoked.
