All the 88 district headquarters in the North Eastern Region are proposed to be connected by 2-lane roads under the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme. Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Jitin Prasada said this in the Lok Sabha today.
In a written reply, he informed the House that so far 23 such roads have been built covering Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland. 29 new roads covering Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura are to be constructed, the Minister said.
