At least two persons have been killed and five others wounded in a car bomb blast followed by a gun battle between militants and the Afghan security forces in western Herat province of Afghanistan today. Reports quoting provincial officials said, militants in car detonated their explosives near the US consulate in Herat city early this morning and entered the compound.Afghan security forces present in the area, took immediate action and gun battle ensued. According to reports, two persons including an Afghan interpreter and an Afghan policeman, were killed and five Afghan security personnel injured in the blast.No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
