2 killed, 4000 forced to flee in Philippines rains

In the Philippines, two people have been killed and about 4,000 forced to flee as monsoon rains inundated their homes and brought flash floods and landslides in the south-east of the country. The governor of Albay province, Mr. Joey Salceda said heavy rain has continued to fall on the province and other parts of the Bicol region for the sixth straight day, increasing the danger of landslides and floods and forcing more people to evacuate. He said the government had begun evacuating people from areas prone to flooding and landslides as early as December 24, but more people will likely be moved as the weather bureau forecasts rain until January 2.
