2 hardcore LeT militants killed in fierce gunbattle in J&K

In Jammu and Kashmir two hardcore militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed in a fierce gunbattle with security forces in Kishtwar district Thursday morning. According to official sources, acting on a specific information about the presence of militants, a joint operation party of Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and police launched a cordon and search operation in Keshwan forest belt in the district early this morning.AIR correspondent reports, finding the security forces approaching toward them, the hiding militants believed to be three in number, started firing indiscriminately, which was also effectively retaliated by the troops. In the ensuing gunfight which lasted several hours, two militants got killed who have been identified as Sultan and Jan Mohmmad, both residents of Kishtwar district. The third militant managed to escape from the site of encounter. According to DIG Udhampur-Doda range, Mr. M.K.Sinha , apart from their involvement in many militant activities, the duo was also involved in the killing of a police head constable recently in Kishtwar district. One AK rifle, two magazines, one Chinese grenade have so far been recovered from the site of encounter.
