2 get death sentence in Pune BPO rape and murder case

Pune session court today awarded death sentences to two main convicts in 2007 rape and murder case of a BPO employee. Convicts driver Purushottam Borade and his friend Pradeep Kokade were given death sentence for raping and murdering a 25-year-old woman, Jyotikumari Choudhary, who worked for a call centre of a multi-national company in Pune. The incident happened on the night of Nov 1, 2007, when the victim Jyotikumari was on her way to her office in Hinjewadi on the outskirts of Pune. She travelled in her office cab, driven by Borade with Kokade sitting beside. Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said, there were no eyewitnesses in the case. However, due to the concrete evidence and examination of 29 other witnesses, the Court held the two guilty of the crime.
