2 BJP MLAs sent to 14 days judicial custody for alleged involvement in Muzaffarnagar violence

In Uttar Pradesh, a local court in Muzaffarnagar has sent two BJP MLAs to judicial custody for 14 days. Suresh Rana and Sangeet Som were produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court today under tight security. They were arrested in connection with Muzaffarnagar clashes. Non bailable warrants were issued against them from the local court.

AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that both the MLAs have moved their bail applications to the court. Hearing on the Som`s application will be taken up on Monday while Rana`s application will be heard on Tuesday. Meanwhile, two more MLAs one each from BJP and BSP were also arrested today. Warrants were issued against leader of BJP legislative Party Hukum Singh and BSP MLA Noor Saleem Rana. They have been arrested on the border of Meerut and Ghaziabad.

Heavy security arrangements have been made at Muzaffarnagar and the constituencies of arrested MLAs to main law and order. Several BJP workers have been arrested from court premises while protesting against the arrest of their leaders. Our correspondent reports that non-bailable warrants have been issued against 12 more politicians and community leaders including BSP MP Qadir Rana, BJP MLA Bhartendu Singh, BSP MLA Maulana Jameel, Congress leader Saeeduzaman and BKU chief Naresh Tikait for allegedly inciting violence in trouble hit Muzaffarnagar. They are wanted for violating prohibitory orders and provoking communal tension by inflammatory speeches in different meetings in the district.

One more person succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Delhi. He was injured in recent Muzaffarnagar clashes and was admitted at Delhi.
