In Uttar Pradesh, two Advocates were killed in a firing incident in the tehsil premises of Lakhimpur Kheri district on Saturday. According to police spokesperson, the incident occurred at Mohammadi tehsil of Lakhimpur Khiri district this afternoon when a group of Advocates passed some remark on Lekhpals during a meeting of Lekhpal association. An agitated Lekhpal opened fire on Advocates, resulting in the death of two of them on the spot while six others were injured. The police spokesperson said that 35 people have been arrested for the violent incident. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a Magisterial inquiry in this incident. The Commissioner of Lucknow division and Inspector General of Police are camping at the troubled spot. Police and PAC forces have been deployed in this area. According to police sources, there was some tension simmering between Lekhpals and Advocates for some time. The opposition Samajwadi Party has alleged that the law and order machinery has collapsed in the state. The Party has also demanded 20 lakh rupees compensation for the victims' families.
