1st test between India-Sri Lanka called off due to rain

The opening day's play in the first Test between India and Sri Lanka was called off today due to rain. There will be an early start of the match tomorrow. India faced tough conditions today as pacer Suranga Lakmal knocked off opener K.L.Rahul and skipper Virat Kohli without any score and Shikhar Dhawan for 8 in a superb opening spell as the hosts were left reeling at 17 for 3 after 11.5 overs when bad light stopped play twice at the Eden Gardens. Suranga Kamal ended the day with 3 wickets without conceding any run. Earlier, visiting skipper Dinesh Chandimal won the toss and opted to bowl.The match started three and half hours late due to wet ground conditions.
