<br/>The first convocation of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduage Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry is being held on Monday. <br/><br/>The Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad will deliver the Convocation address and give away academic awards and medals. <br/><br/>JIPMER was, earlier, under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and affiliated to Pondicherry University which was conferring all academic degrees. <br/><br/>The Institute was converted into an Institution of National Importance last year and examinations of all academic courses are now conducted by JIPMER itself.
