The Mumbai Police Crime Branch yesterday arrested Feroz Abdul Rashid Khan, a wanted accused in the 1993 Mumbai Serial blasts case, and handed him over to the CBI. Feroz, who arrived in the city from Dubai on 3rd February, was arrested last night from Kopri village in neighbouring Navi Mumbai by the crime branch following a tip-off. He managed to evade arrest for 17 years. The police said that 40-year old Feroz was a close aide of Dawood Ibrahim and Mustafa Dossa, who played key role in the blasts. He carried a reward of rupees 2 lakh on his head. Feroz played key role in landing, distributing and later throwing the remaining ammunition in the Kandalgaon creek in Raigad district of Maharashtra. According to the prosecution these arms and ammunition's were used in the 1993 blasts. According to police, during interrogation Feroz has admitted to meeting Dawood Ibrahim in Karachi, Pakistan recently. A series of blasts had shattered the city on March 12, 1993, killing 257 people and injuring more than 700. The trial in the case concluded in the year 2006 and the TADA court convicted 100 accused. Over 30 accused including Dawood, Dossa and mobster Tiger Memon continue to abscond.
