1984 riots: SC quashes Sajjan plea challenging charges against him

The Supreme Court has rejected Congress leader Sajjan Kumar's plea challenging quashing of charges against him in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Sultanpuri, Delhi. The court asked Kumar to face trial in the alleged murder case. Sajjan Kumar is accused of murder, rioting and promoting hatred between communities, which allegedly led to the deaths of six people in Sultanpuri.

Earlier in July, the Delhi High Court had dismissed his plea challenging framing of murder and rioting charges against him.
