1971 Indo-Pak war hero Lt Gen Jacob passes away

Retired Lieutenant General and a key architect in India's victory in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, JFR Jacob passed away in Army Research and Refferal Hospital in New Delhi today. Jacob, then a Major General, served as the Chief of Staff of the Indian Army's Eastern Command during the war. <br/><br/>During his 36-year career in the army, he also fought in World War II and the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965. JFR Jacob later served as the Governor of the Indian states of Goa and Punjab.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief on the passing away of Lieutenant General Jacob. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, India will always remain grateful to General Jacob for his impeccable service to the nation at the most crucial moments. Mr Modi said, he had a memorable interaction when General Jacob presented his autobiography to him.
