Union Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr. Harsh Vardhan has informed that the 19 seater passenger aircraft developed by National Aerospace Laboratories, NAL will soon be available for commercial production. <br />''<br />''Inaugurating the UAV Design and Integration Facility in CSIR-NAL Belur campus in Bengaluru today, he said this small aircraft being developed indigenously, will help improve regional connectivity under the Udaan scheme. <br />''<br />''The facility inaugurated by the minister today, houses the entire spectrum of activities from detailed design to manufacturing and testing of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, UAV. It enables design engineers to go through the complete development cycle of UAV. <br />''<br />''The Centre has developed fixed wing UAVs with a two meter wing span that can carry payloads ranging from five to 100 kgs and is useful for aerial photography and surveillance. The minister also visited NALs integrated facility for manufacturing of carbon fibers and pre-pregs, the raw materials used extensively in aircraft, missiles, launch vehicles and satellites. <br />''<br />''The carbon fiber manufacturing technology is highly strategic in nature and carries end use restrictions internationally. A PSU under Ministry of Defence Midhani is in the process of setting up a 300 TPA manufacturing unit for the carbon fibre with this indigenous technology developed by NAL.<br />''<br />
