In Maharashtra, at least 19 people have been killed and 17 others injured when a State Transport bus plunged into Poorna river in Buldhana district this morning. The causality figure is likely to rise as an estimated 60 to 70 people were travelling in the bus. Search and rescue operations are still on.
The accident was caused due to a tyre burst after which the driver totally lost control of the bus. The injured have been rushed to Akola General Hospital. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has announced a compensation of rupees 1 lakh for the kin of deceased. It will also bear the medical expense of all the injured people.
