19 killed, 4 injured as bus plunges into gorge in U’khand

In Uttarakhand nineteen people were killed and 4 others injured when a bus fell into the Nandakini river near Ghat in Chamoli district today. Police said the impact of the fall was so huge, the bus was broken into pieces.

The ill-fated bus was on its way from Haridwar to Ghat with local passengers on board. State Governor Dr. Aziz Quereshi and Chief Minister Harish Rawat have condoled the death of those killed in the accident.

The Chief Minister directed district administration and the health department to provide proper medical treatment to the injured.

This is the second major bus accident in Garhwal region within the last 3 days. It may be recalled that a State transport bus met with an accident near Devprayag killing 13 people on May 7.
