The plan outlay for Tamil Nadu for 2012-13 has been fixed at 28,000 crore rupees. This is an approximate 19 per cent increase from 2011-12. This was decided after a meeting between Tamil Nadu chief minister and deputy chairman planning commission Montek Singh Alhuwalia. Speaking to reporters later, Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa expressed unhappiness over the allocation. She said the state government was remedying its fiscal situation and substantial financial support was required from the centre for the scaled up investment needs of the state's 12th Five Year Plan.
