Sri Lanka Navy today arrested 19 more Indian fishermen and captured 5 trawlers near the Delft Island for allegedly violating the International Maritime Boundary and using illegal fishing methods like bottom trawling.
Talking to AIR NEWS in Colombo, Sri Lankan Navy Spokesman Kosala Warnakulasurya said that the fishermen have been taken to Kankesanthurai port and will be handed over to the Fisheries authorities. He claimed that the Navy was forced to take the Indians into custody when they came too close to Sri Lankan shores and were found to be practicing illegal fishing methods.
