In Assam, as many as 19 militants belonging to Dimasa National Democratic Front (DNDF) laid down arms before security forces at Halflong in Dima Hasao district on Wednesday. The militants deposited seven AK rifles, one M-16 rifle, several pistols, revolvers, grenades, US-made carbines and huge quantity of ammunition. The surrendered militants included the outfit’s top leaders Camera Dimasa and Laiyung Dimasa. The outfit was involved in extortions and several explosions in the Hill district of Dima Hasao since last few years.
