Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that <b>189 </b>high madrassas and other madrasas in the state will operate as any other general educational institute in the state.<br />'' <br />''Talking to newspersons in Guwahati, the Minister said that no admission to students for theological studies would be given.<br />'' <br />''It may be recalled that the Assam cabinet on Sunday approved the proposal to close down government-run madrassas and Sanskrit tols.<br />'' <br />''Mr. Sarma said that while Sanskrit tols would be handed over to Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, the government-run madrassas would be converted into high schools.<br />'' <br />''On the other hand, the teachers of madrassas would be engaged in general schools. <br />'' <br />''The Minister further said that all schools in the state will be operationalised from 1st of January without any restrictions which were imposed due to Covid-19.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">However Covid-19 protocols will be followed as per norms.</span><br />
