Admitting that there was corruption in Public Distribution System, PDS, Delhi government today said there are at least 18,000 ration cards in the capital created through bogus means. This was disclosed by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Harun Yusuf in Delhi Assembly during a discussion on price rise. Mr. Yusuf said there were no takers for around 18,000 biometric PDS cards prepared by the Department.<br/><br/>Delhi Government has started the process of issuing bio-metric BPL cards so as to identify "bogus beneficiaries" and streamline PDS system. Mr. Yusuf said the last date for applying for a BPL card in the capital has been extended to 15th of next month.
