A total of 18 seed banks are functioning in the country. These banks are sufficient to meet the needs of the farmers. Agriculture Minister
Mr. Sharad Pawar informed this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. Giving the details of these seed banks, he said they are located in different States including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Mahrarashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Pawar said, in addition to these banks, National Seed Corporation and State Farms Corporation of India also maintained seed banks.
