In Jammu and Kashmir 18 new Polytechnics are being established at the District level. 434 new posts have been created to provide adequate staff for better functioning of these institutions.This was stated by J&K Minister for Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R.S. Chib after laying the foundation stone of New Women Hostel Block in the premises of Government Women’s Polytechnic, Jammu being constructed under Skilled Development Mission.The hostel block would be completed at an estimated cost of one crore rupees. The construction of these Polytechnics has already been started.Mr Chib said, that the government has prioritized imparting of vocational and professional training to women for their empowerment.He said that the intake capacity has been enhanced from 3500 to 7000 in Polytechnics under the Skill Development Mission.Mr. Chib informed that an amount of One crore seventy lakh rupees would be sanctioned for the up-gradation of Textile Block, provision for canteen facilities, construction of double bed rooms staff quarters, installation of High mast lights and deep boring hand-pump in the college campus.
