18 new ministers inducted in Gogoi cabinet

In Assam, 18 new ministers were inducted in the Tarun Gogoi-led State Cabinet. Of these, 14 are Ministers with Cabinet Rank and four with Ministers of State with independent charge. The State Governor Janaki Ballav Patnaik administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers at a function organized at the ITA Cultural Centre at Guwahati ton Friday afternoon. The Cabinet Ministers sworn-in include- Prithibi Majhi, Gautom Roy, Tanka Bahadur Rai, Ajanata Neog, Akon Bora, Dr. Ardhendu Dey, Chandan Brahma, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Khor Singh Engti, Dr. Nazrul Islam, Nilomoni Sen Deka, Pradyut Bordoloi, Pranati Phukan and Rockybul Hussain. The Ministers of State those sworn-in on Friday include- Ajit Singh, Basanta Das, Rajib Lochan Pegu and Siddique Ahmed.AIR Correspondent reports that eight ministers of the previous Tarun Gogoi-led Government have been included in the present ministry. Six new faces have also been included in the new Congress-led Cabinet. Mr. Gogoi was sworn-in as Chief Minister of the State for the third consecutive term on 18th of this month. The ruling Congress has a strength of 78 in the 126-member State Assembly. 12 Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) legislators besides one member from Trinamool Congress and another independent legislator- have also supported the Congress for formation of the Government.
