In Gujarat, at least eighteen people were killed when a speeding truck run over them on the Dolka-Bagodara highway near Ahmedabad early on Thursday morning. An earlier report had put the death toll at 20. Mishap occurred near Bejwa where a number of people, on their way to pilgrimage were sleeping on the roadside. According to sources, the driver of the truck with Madhya Pradesh registration number lost control after a tyre burst and run over the resting people on the roadside in the wee hours today. AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports, deceased were on their way to participate in an annual Urs of Pir Bana Dargah near Dholka. Sixteen persons were killed on the spot while two succumbed to their injuries later. Fifteen people have been injured and admitted in Dholka and Ahmedabad hospitals.
