18 dead in Punjab road accident; State Health Min visits injured in hospital

The death toll in a major road accident in Punjab late last night has risen to 18. All were pilgrims coming back from a shrine when the mini truck they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Hoshiarpur district. The truck was carrying over 50 people. About 30 have been admitted to various hospitals. All of them belong to village Bholath in Kapurthala district.
Punjab Health Minister, Surjit Kumar Jiyani has visited Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital to take stock of the situation. Rescue efforts are on by the district and police administration
