In UP, eighteen children have succumbed to Japanese Encephalitis in different districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Quoting Official sources AIR correspondent reports that of this, 11 children died at Baba Raghav Das Medical College Hospital in Gorakhpur three in Bahraich and 4 patients succumbed to the deadly disease in Allahabad district. With this the death toll due to different kinds of encephalitis has mounted to 307 in various eastern districts this year. AIR correspondent reports that over 270 patients are being treated for encephalitis in the government hospitals of the region.Meanwhile, a separate ward is being proposed to be constructed in BRD Medical College to accommodate the increasing number of patients on the initiatives of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). A feasibility report is being sent to NDMA for approval.
