The 17th National Sports Meet for the Blind will begin at Panchkula in Haryana tomorrow. Over 550 participants from 15 states across the country will participate in track and field events, power lifting and chess competition during the four day meet. Male and female athletes will compete in various events under three sight classifications, B1 totally blind and B2 and B3 low vision and partially blind. This largest sports meet for the visually challenged in the country is organised once every two years by Indian Blind Sports Association and Blind Relief Association. AIR Correspondent reports that some of the finest totally blind and low vision athletes who have won medals at international level will compete in the events along with some of the budding athletes.
