17th Asian Games kicked off early this morning in Incheon, South Korea

After a spectacular opening ceremony Friday, the 17th Asian Games kicked off early this morning in Incheon, South Korea.In Shooting, India finished fifth in the 10-metre Air pistol women's team finals. The team comprised Heena Sidhu, Malaika Goel and Shweta Chaudhary.In the Individual section, Shweta advanced to the finals after finishing fourth in the Qualification. Heena and Malaika could not qualify.In Badminton, the Indian Women's team, comprising Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, is currently playing against Macau in the Round of 16. In the opener, Saina defeated Macau's Ieng Wong 21-6, 21-4 to give India a 1-0 lead. The match between PV Sindhu and Teng U. is underway.The Men's team, having P. Kashyap, will take on Korea in the Round of 16 later in the day.In Tennis, the Indian Women's teams will take on Oman in a short while from now.In Squash, Dipika Pallikal, Joshana Chinappa and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu are among the Indians who will be seen in action in the pre-quarterfinals later today.Three Indian Judokas will also play their preliminary matches today. Basketball, Handball, Cycling, Wushu (a sport derived from Chinese martial arts), Equestrian/Riding, Rowing and Volleyball are the events, which will witness the Indian participation today.
