Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply today that 177 sportspersons failed dope tests in the two years preceding last year. Giving break up, he said 110 sportspersons failed dope test in 2015 and 67 in 2016. The minister said in a bid to eradicate doping, the government has decided to establish five regional centres to spread awareness at all levels of sports and impart anti-doping education in the country. He said one such centre has already been established.
