The government today said a total of 171 army personnel were martyred in fighting terrorists during the last three years in the country. In a reply to a written question in the Rajya Sabha, defence minister Manohar Parrikar informed that 61 army personnel were martyred in 2012, 54 in 2013 and 56 in 2014. He said that the next of kin of those who killed during fighting terrorists were provided compensation and benefits as per norms.
