Protesting police lathicharge on them, resident doctors of all Medical Colleges have gone on a strike, affecting health care facilities in the Rajasthan. Resident Doctors are protesting the incident of lathicharge in Jodhpur yesterday and demanded arrest of erring police officials. Medical services are badly affected due to the strike in all six medical colleges and affilitated hospitals in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Kota, Udaipur and Bikaner. 17 persons including seven new born babies reportedly died in these hospitals since yesterday after the strike. Government has made necessary arrangements to tackle the situation and deputed 55 senior doctors in SMS hospital, Jaipur. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot appealed to doctors to return to work. Meanwhile, Pharmaceuticals Association, Medical College Teachers Association and Jaipur Medical Association came in support of the strike. Our correspondent reports that the talks between Health Minister Mr. Amabuddin Ahmed Khan and representatives of resident doctors ended without any result.
