he 17 Indian men involved in the bootlegging-and-murder case of a Pakistani resident Misri Khan in Dubai in 2009 may be back to their native country by May, this year. Their death sentence had been commuted by the Sharjah Court after the blood money was paid to Misri Khan’s family in July, last.Hoping to get them back to India by May, the Dubai based philanthropist. S.P. Singh Oberoi, who had paid One million dollars in blood money and also helping many other Indians facing jail terms in UAE said during a press conference in Jalandhar, today, that the next date of hearing is April 22.At present they are undergoing sentence in the wake of fresh charges slapped against them in January by two others for assaulting them also during the fight which led to Khan’s murder. These two men have sought compensation for injuries sustained.Oberoi said a team of doctors is examining the degree of injury on the basis of which the compensation would be decided by the court. He assured the compensation would be paid by him.
