The 17 Indians who are facing death penalty in Sharjah for murdering a Pakistani national and whose inevitable release last month has been delayed, are hoping for a favourable decision by the UAE Supreme Court.
The court has not given any date of next hearing in the case so far. Their release had been delayed as colleagues of the murdered Pakistani, Misri Khan who were also beaten up during the brawl, have now filed a petition in a Dubai Court asking for compensation just like the victim's family got it.
The President of Dubai based Indian Punjabi Society, S.P. Singh Oberoi, who is independently spearheading a campaign for the release of the Indians facing trials in UAE, told the media in Jalandhar on Wednesday that a three member jury committee headed by a Judge would hear the three friends of the deceased on the 9th of this month to decide whether the compensation case filed by the trio, has any truth in it or not.
