In Uttarakhand, at least 17 children killed when a School building collapsed due to landslide following heavy rain at Kapkot in Bageshwar district. Our correspondent reports that 16 bodies have been recovered so far. The rescue operation is underway. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has expressed grief at the demise of 17 children. A PMO statement said that the Dr Singh has sanctioned ex-gratia assistance of one lakh rupees each for the kin of the deceased and 50 thousand rupees each in case of seriously injured from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
