16th round of voting to elect new Nepal PM today

Nepal's parliament is conducting 16th round of voting to elect a new Prime Minister this afternoon after fifteen earlier attempts have failed since the process of election began on July 21. Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Poudel is the only candidate contesting the election after Maoist Chairman Prachand withdrew from the electoral race before the 8th round of voting on 26th September. AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that today's voting is unlikely to succeed in electing a new Prime Minister as the three major parties in their meeting held yesterday failed to arrive at a consensus to resolve the continuing political deadlock.
