Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambica Soni said the film festivals contribute immensely in the promotion of cinema as a means of education and entertainment. <br/> <br/>After inaugurating the 16th International Children’s Film Festival in Hyderabad last evening, she said the doors and windows should be kept open for children of the country so that cultural traditions all over the world would enter their homes making them true global citizens. <br/> <br/>Chief Minister K. Rosaiah urged the Central government to extend financial assistance to lift the drooping spirits of children’s cinema of the country. He said only generous incentives by the State and Central governments would make the projects viable for the producers. Lamenting the absence of values in present day movies, he asked the film fraternity to make cinema more meaningful.<br/> <br/>Eminent Poet and writer Gulzar asked the CFSI to bring to light a treasure of 300 films lying with it. <br/> <br/>Former union minister Dasari Narayana Rao stressed the need to shift the office of CSFI to Hyderabad to give impetus for film making for Children. He said Telugu said films and film-makers were being ignored on the national fora despite the fact that it was a Telugu producer K.S. Prakasa Rao, who pioneered children’s films in India, 61 years ago.<br/> <br/>The Children’s Film Society of India (CSFI) and Government of Andhra Pradesh are jointly organizing the week-long Children’s Film Festival. Several popular film personalities have attended the programme.<br/>
